🌿 Professor Monstera Method: How to Make the Feed

I'm thrilled you're embarking on this journey with the Professor Monstera Method! Thousands of plant enthusiasts worldwide have embraced this system, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. I'm confident that within four weeks, the plants you choose to transition to the coco perlite medium and this feeding regimen will exhibit remarkable growth and vitality.

❄️ Why Dechlorinate Your Water?

Chlorinated tap water can hinder the beneficial microbes essential for your plants' health. To ensure optimal results, it's crucial to use dechlorinated water when preparing your feed.

Simple Methods to Dechlorinate Water:

Let It Sit: Fill your container with tap water and let it stand uncovered for 24 hours. This allows chlorine to evaporate naturally.

Use Vitamin C: For a quicker method, Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) can neutralise chlorine effectively.

Dosage: Use approximately 1 gram of Vitamin C per 20 litres of water. This equates to 0.5 grams for 10 litres.

Instructions:

Crush a 500 mg Vitamin C tablet (ensure it's pure ascorbic acid without additives).

Dissolve it thoroughly in your 10-litre water container.

Stir well and let it sit for a few minutes before use.

This method is safe, efficient, and ensures your beneficial microbes thrive.

Once you've dechlorinated your water, you're ready to proceed with mixing the feed.

1. GT Foliage Focus — Your Plant’s Daily Meal

Grab your big bottle of GT Foliage Focus and pour in the full sample — it’s the perfect dose for 10L.

Now give it a proper stir. This is your plant’s main food. It’s not some mystery bottle or snake oil — it’s full-spectrum nutrients that are actually complete. That means:

Nitrogen (N) for strong leaf growth

Phosphorus (P) for root strength

Potassium (K) for resistance and resilience

Plus trace elements like iron, copper, manganese, and zinc

GT Foliage Focus is made in Australia, and honestly, it’s the only base nutrient I use for my Albos. It just works. You’ll see what I mean in a few weeks when your leaves are coming out thicker, greener, and way more vibrant.

2. BONUS: CalMag — The Secret Weapon I Didn’t List BONUS, Add all to 10l

Now this one I didn’t even mention in the product description — but you’ll find it in your pack. CalMag.

Why?

Because I use it in every single feed. I didn’t want to overwhelm people with too many ingredients on the product page, but this one had to go in. I just couldn’t send you my system without including it.

Here’s why it matters:

Coco perlite is incredible, but it hugs onto calcium and magnesium like it’s got separation anxiety.

Calcium helps your plant build strong, structured cell walls.

Magnesium is essential for photosynthesis.

I honestly think this is the reason why I don’t get plant problems anymore. My plants are just thriving.

It’s like a tonic. A preventative. Keeps everything in balance so you don’t run into issues later.

3. Add Your Silica – The Leaf Armour

Grab the container marked Silica. Pour the whole thing into your mix — it’s the exact amount for 10L.

This is not just any silica. This is pH-perfect monosilicic acid, which means you don’t need to muck around with pH test strips, adjustment drops, or a pH pen.

Back in the day, we all had to use the older stuff — like GT Silica — which is made from potassium silicate. While it works, the plant actually has to convert it into monosilicic acid before it can use it.

This new silica is already in the form your plant needs — it just slurps it straight up.

Why Silica Changes Everything

Thicker leaves: They become firm, almost like cardboard.

Stops pests: Leaves become so tough, pests can't bite through.

Prevents brown tips: When used with the full feed and good hydration, brown tips become rare.

4. Add AZOS + MYKOS (Bag Labelled AZOS & MYKOS)

Yes, I added Mykos to your AZOS bag. That wasn’t in the product description — but it’s how I feed my plants.

AZOS: Beneficial bacteria that help plants absorb nitrogen and explode root growth.

MYKOS: Beneficial fungi that bond with your roots, massively increasing nutrient and water uptake.

Together, they build a living root zone that turns average plants into beasts.

5. Add SuperNatural (Bio Diesel)

This is your game changer — especially for root development and propagation.

You’ll notice:

Aerial roots that are fat, white, and thick

Explosive new root growth within days

If you don’t plan on propagating, you can skip it. But if you do, this will blow your mind.

6. Add Tribus

Tribus is the last step — but not the least.

Protects roots from pathogens that cause root rot

Stimulates explosive growth

Works like a turbocharger

Now stir well — your 10L of Professor Monstera Feed is ready.

Quick Reference – What to Add (In Order)

10L Unchlorinated Water

GT Foliage Focus — Complete macro/micro nutrients

CalMag — Prevents deficiencies in coco perlite

Silica (Monosilicic Acid) — Strengthens leaves, pest resistance

AZOS + MYKOS — Beneficial bacteria + fungi for roots

SuperNatural (Bio Diesel) — Explosive aerial/root growth

Tribus — Root rot shield + growth accelerator

Stir thoroughly. Feed is ready.

How to Store the Feed (Keep It Alive and Potent)

Option 1 – Use an Air Pump (Recommended)

Use an air pump and air stone in the 10L bucket — run it 24/7. Keeps oxygen flowing, microbes happy, alive, and multiplying.

💡 Tip: Add molasses — 1 tbsp per 4L (about 2.5 tbsp for 10L). Must be unsulphured.

Just grab Coles Branded Molasses — it’s cheap and works perfectly.

🪴 Grab My Propagating Kit

$40

Dual outlet air pump

Two air stones

Tubing & connectors

Ships fast

Option 2 – Bottle + Refrigerate

No pump? No problem.

Store in sealed bottles (like 2L juice bottles) and pop in the fridge.

Microbes stay stable

Just shake well before using

You’ll still get:

Fatter roots

Bigger leaves

Zero rot

Faster growth

🧬 What’s a Root Drench — and Why Does It Matter?

A root drench is a soak using Azos & Mykos at a higher concentration

Think billions of bacteria and fungi waking up, sticking to roots, and forming a living shield.

Add Root Drench to 300–500ml warm water

Soak roots 2–3 minutes

Pour leftover over roots after planting

Yes — it’s alive! The powder looks dry, but it wakes up in water.

🌱 Transplanting Into Coco Perlite

Remove plant from pot. Gently loosen roots, remove soil.

Rinse roots with lukewarm water (don’t scrub).

Soak roots in Root Drench for 2–3 minutes.

Pot into coco perlite. Use a snug pot — not too big.

Water in with leftover drench. Let sit 15–20 mins. Pour runoff back over. Then drain completely.

Feeding Schedule – Daily vs. Every Few Days

Coco perlite is hydroponic. It loves to stay wet — and roots love air + moisture.

Daily: Best results. Just enough to get a little runoff.

Every 2–3 days: Still awesome.

Weekly: Slower growth, still great.

Always let it drain.

Don’t reuse runoff on the same plant.

Use it on your soil plants instead — they’ll explode with growth.

Optional: Tray soak for 10 mins, then top-feed again.

You’re now officially on the Method.
